Genocya was formed in April/2002 by Rick Leusby and Kris Smith (guitars) and Tim Sever (drums). Rick and Kris had been life-long friends and grew up playing music together since day one when they picked up their instruments. They had a short lived metal band, Sacrilege in their area, but could never find other dedicated additions to keep it going. Tim is a veteran of the Michigan underground metal scene (and a real good guy - ed). Tim, being in one of the Detroit area's most popular metal acts, Production Grey, as well as filling in with Project Apocalypse numerous times. He is also a big part of the black metal cult, Wind of the Black Mountains. Randy Belden had provided vocals with the band for period of time, but parted with the band due to the needs of his family. Jim Albrecht (bass) joined Genocya shortly after Randy. Jim has been around the Michigan underground scene for many years and is a well known face in Michigan metal. Jeff Keech joined as vocalist in mid 2003. In early 2004, Rick decided he wanted to take a different path in life and pursue other ventures outside of music. This brought in Brad VanStaveren as a second guitarist. Brad has played with LD 100, Rosemary and Samaira. With this lineup, Genocya have found a new found excitement about playing music. Genocya is a metal band, nothing more, nothing less. No gimmick, just metal. We can currently be heard on a 4 song demo circulating from an early 2004 recording, and also from our MP3 page, where you can download our current MP3's. Genocya is currently playing shows where ever they can, so keep your eyes and ears open for Genocya to be coming to a town near you!! |
