E.M.T. or Experimental Mind Therapy is an electronic/industrial metal band from Waterloo, Iowa. The six member band was formed in December of 2001 through the joining of programmer/bassist/vocalist Gabriel with guitarist Tom Ogle; vocalists J and Jack Viers; drummer Brian Goldsberry; and keyboardist Tyler Crew. The heavy guitar riffs are backed up by melodic electronic overtones in a deluge of sound that floods the listeners brains to the brim. J and Jack utilize the beautiful and brutal tones of the human voice to create an eerie, terrifying, and wonderful mood that meshes perfectly with the alternating bone crushing and spine-tingling haunting guitars and electronics.

The band's influences cover all genres of rock and industrial from Godflesh to the Beatles. The sound that is produced by this mongrel mix of musical style has much in common with many other bands in the modern-rock genre, but Gabriel's electronic sequences mixed with Goldsberry's crazy drum fills and Ogle's evilized guitar effects make the style in a league of its own. Viers and J bring in some pop sensibility with their floating melodies and razor-blade rhymes. Tyler peppers on electronic, headrush effects that manifest every single human emotion possible instantaneously. Ask a member of E.M.T. what the band sounds like and you will get a one-word answer: "Ambitious."

E.M.T. has caused an enormous stir in the Waterloo and Cedar Falls communities through endless self-promotion. Their official website, www.emt-online.net, is receiving approximately 800+ hits a day. E-mail has been received from all over the U.S. and overseas as far away as Brazil, Canada, Australia, Italy, Portugal, and Germany. The band has integrated a guest book/forum and a chat room with scheduled chats. Photos of every single show are archived for fans to check out at their leisure. Guestbook, multimedia, mp3's. It really is pure 100% chaos at all times!

Requests for music demos skyrocketed throughout the beginning of 2002. In response, E.M.T. recorded and pressed a three song demo containing the songs "Escape", "Father", and "Falling Down." Released in March, 2002, 400 copies have been given away at the expense of E.M.T. Most went to fans via mail and by hand at live shows. Others were utilized as promotional tools and were sent to record companies, agencies, and radio stations. The song "Escape" wound up getting some spins on a few radio stations. The Shift-89.7 FM in Mankato and Lazer 103.3 in Des Moines played the single extensively. KWWL, News Channel 7 utilized the song "Escape" in a televised segment entitled "Behind The Bands."

Before even playing one show E.M.T. quickly amassed a die-hard following. Proceeds from the first two gigs helped finance several TV commercials that aired on KWWL to promote a show back in July, 2002. E.M.T. is not about "putting up one poster and calling it good..." A street team has been assembled to handle most of the papering and promoting. Street team members receive free band merchandise in exchange for promoting. The trade-off is beneficial for both sides. The professional level of promotion has propelled the band to the next level. E.M.T's live shows around the area have taken on a life of their own. The over-the-top promotion gave E.M.T. the opportunity to get in on the bill with many top-notch local and regional acts -- including the national acts "12 Stones" and "Supafuzz." E.M.T. is now on a headlining status in the Waterloo and Cedar Falls area playing the best clubs and bars. They are on the verge of branching out into other major cities and states. Dates are starting to filter in and the calendar is quickly becoming filled.

With old and new fans requesting a full CD - and with the need for something new to send record labels, a new recording is in the works. The recording will begin in August, 2002. The independent album will come complete with artwork, lyrics, and liner notes and will feature ten songs. E.M.T. plans on shopping for labels with their upcoming album. Be prepared, the goods will be delivered.
