This very question finds the answer in Lacrimas Profundere's catchy, seventies-influenced, Gothic Rock, complete with dark yet dirty melody lines. The sextet was formed in 1993 by Oliver Nikolas (the band's original vocalist, later replaced by brother Christopher), who soon found a more than adequate line-up to complete the formation. His vision encompassed fresh ideas, rock-oriented songs that found their niche between melancholy, hope, anger, and aggression. Their unique style soon secured them a deal in 1999 with Napalm Records. A promotional trip to Paris and a wide array of touring in France, Germany, and Mexico followed, giving their soon-to-be fans a glimpse into the sounds and sights that make up Lacrimas Profundere.
Their previous release, "Fall, I will follow", did much to catapult the band into the media limelight. The reviews were outstanding and the album soon made out with the coveted "album of the month" title in a variety of magazines. In the German DJ charts, the album placed in the top 15 for 12 weeks. Likewise, radio charts in the US placed the band in the top 20. With this release, the band toured Mexico in 2002, playing in sold-out halls.
In early 2003, the band performed live with Paradise Lost in Innsbruck, Salzburg, and Istanbul, and went on to play diverse festivals, ending the year with a tour of Germany in support of Amorphis in the fall.
"Rock 'N Sad Music", is how the band's frontman, Christopher, perfectly describes Lacrimas Profundere's music. Their successful style has secured them endorsement deals with ESP Guitars (Metallica, Soulfly, Rammstein) and Behringer Equipment (Alice Cooper, Stratovarius, Subseven).
Lacrimas Profundere returned in mid 2004 with "Ave End", combining a somber atmosphere with musical flair. The album itself was recorded in Lungfull Studios and mastered at Finnvox Studios under the expert guidance of Mika Jussila. The filming of the title track's video clip followed thereafter, airing on Viva,and Viva Plus, among others.
LACRIMAS PROFUNDERE returns in 2006 with "Filthy Notes for Frozen Hearts". Produced by John Fryer (HIM, Nine Inch Nails, Paradise Lost, Cradle of Filth, Depeche Mode), the album according to the legendary producer "...has an inmense potential to become very successful-even more successful than HIM with Razorblade Romance".
Recorded in Munich, mixed in London, and mastered at the infamous Finnvox Studios in Helsinki, LACRIMAS PROFUNDERE launches their latest gothic rock offering with the single, "Again It's over". Available as a 6-track MCD jewel case edition incl. 3 non album tracks, the single's title track is the perfect example of how a band should go about combining the sounds of the rock guitar with an irresistable groove. The album itself sounds as if Sisters of Mercy all of a sudden decided to cover Type o negative, HIM, Sentenced, or the 69 Eyes.
